8a & 10a
Explanation of evidence
Due to units 8 and 10 being synoptic by nature, some of the evidence produced can be of “double-use”. For example, in this first section, the definition of scope required in unit 8 is the same kind of document required by unit 10. However, in unit 10 it is called by a different name: the functional specification. So in this case, unit 10's original name has been retained.
Background and intended audience of the following documents
Hounslow West Evangelical Church's website is in dire need of a make over! An engaging multimedia experience is required. I have been approached to design and develop an interactive product to suit the needs of a specified target audience.
The main stakeholder is Mr G Yuen. He developed the current website and continues to maintain it. He has a busy job as a senior software engineer. He holds a B.Sc in Mathematics and a M.Sc in Computer Science, therefore, he will be able to fully understand most technical terms. The functional specification has been generated with this in mind. More specifically, this means that I will have to fully justify every design and development decision well, even the technical ones, because of the main stakeholder's learned credentials.
Presentation of documents
These documents were presented firstly to the main stakeholder (the client) Mr G Yuen and then to Mr A Atar (senior management) at a later date. The proposal was presented to the client on 07 March 2007 and the functional specification on 09 March 2007.
